Left and Right Brains

The two hemispheres are very different but work as one.
Simplifying things:
The left hemisphere is male, insecure and competitive, thinks in terms of either/or, logical cause and effect, sequential thought, with no shades of grey. The vast majority of the ‘monkey mind’s’ (also known as ‘the default mode network’) thoughts are not ours. They are a survival machine from our reptilian past. It is not who we are. Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now clarifies this with ‘I am not my mind’.
The right hemisphere is feminine. She thinks in terms of both/and, and sees the big picture. She is connected to the Source, intuition and knows the soul lives forever, so cannot die. It is common for people who have faced death to lose all fear of it. When we pass, our soul leaves this physical form (the actor’s ‘instrument’) and returns to the higher realms from which it came.
In The Master and his Emissary, Iain McGilchrist argues that the left-brain Emissary has siezed control from the right-brain Master. This is why the world is in its current state.
